A Lynch-style check: does Costco’s customer story hold up?

Knowing a shop is a research starting point. Test that familiarity against reported customer behaviour before making a valuation judgment.

State the idea simply

Our research hypothesis is that members see enough value to keep paying to shop. That is an idea to test, not proof that the stock is cheap.

02

Check the definition

Costco reports a trailing renewal measure. It excludes memberships expiring in the six months before the reporting date and excludes Business affiliates. It is not an instant measure of current satisfaction.

03

Test the next link

Compare customer retention with profits and the price of the shares. A strong business can still be an expensive investment.

Trendstockers applies questions from its Lynch playbook here. This is not a claim that Lynch bought or recommended Costco. Figures are a fixed fiscal-2025 example, not live data.
