Who is Doug Casey?
Doug Casey’s published resource-investing framework organizes due diligence around eight Ps. It was developed for assessing speculative resource companies, where the attraction of a discovery must be weighed against financing, execution and political uncertainty.
How the method works
The categories cover people, property, financing, paper, promotion, politics, a push or catalyst, and price. Together they force attention beyond the drill result. A promising property may still be a poor security if the share structure, capital needs or valuation work against its owners.
What makes the approach distinctive
The useful contribution is a repeatable review. Different companies can be examined with the same broad questions, exposing missing evidence and helping readers distinguish a geological possibility from an investable proposition. It is a discipline for speculation, not a way to remove speculation.
Use our playbook to build one short case under each heading. Attach the technical report, financing documents and dated company guidance. Then identify the catalyst you are waiting for and what an adverse result would mean. Save the research under a name you can find before the next announcement.Trendstockers takeaway, not an investor quotation
Where it can go wrong
A completed checklist is not proof of quality. Political conditions, mineral economics and funding markets can change after the research is saved. Revisit the evidence, especially share issuance and cash runway, rather than simply reusing an old conclusion.
